Friendship, Recreation, and Support for Seniors in the Dartmouth Community

We’re a non-profit, member supported organization with a rich 46 year history of delivering essential support to Seniors and the broader community.

 

BEHAVIOURAL GUIDELINES

  • Use positive language and gestures.

  • Treat everyone with consideration and kindness.

  • If misunderstandings or arguments arise between members, there should be an attempt to resolve them as soon as possible with the assistance of staff if necessary.

  • Please respect everyone’s personal space and boundaries and note that there is a zero-tolerance policy for any bullying behaviours, any kind of violence, or any form of sexual harassment.

  • Respect our property while visiting the centre. Do not go into offices unattended or unannounced.

  • Respect everyone’s privacy and confidentiality.

  • Please do not discuss members’ personal information with the general public, other members or non-members.

  • Respect your fellow members, centre staff, and guests when engaging on social media. Do not post pictures or information without the consent of that person. Our centre is a smoke-free, scent-free, and substance-free zone.

  • The Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre is not responsible for what others post on social media and is not held liable for posts regarding members or by members, nor do we condone misconduct online.

  • If you are not feeling well or showing signs of illness of any sort, we ask that you do not come to the Centre until symptoms have cleared.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE-NOTED GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN THE TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT CANCELLATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP.

  • Join us for lunch, regardless of your age, and meet great seniors in your community

  • Host your next meeting or event at Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre. We provide meals for up to 150 people and can seat up to 200.

Our Impact

We unite seniors, families and friends in social and recreational activity, serve and deliver thousands of nutritious meals to seniors, transport clients to medical appointments, and help defray medical costs for our members.

Meals on Wheels

Economically priced home style meals prepared fresh daily by our Chef and delivered to your door by our volunteers.

In-house Lunches (weekdays)

Economically priced home style meals prepared fresh daily by our Chef to enjoy at our location with your friends.

Recreational activities

These activities provide fitness, education, and recreation to stay in shape, learn something new, or simply enjoy the company of friends.

Special events

Special events include themed meals, parties, fundraising events, and opportunities to travel to destinations in the province for special activities.

Medical Transportation

Economical door to door transportation to medical, hearing and dental appointments for Dartmouth seniors with 48 hours notice.

Medical expense Assistance

Assisting our members by reimbursing them for a portion of the costs of hearing, vision or dental care .

Catering and Meeting services

Our commercial kitchen caters special events to raise additional funds that offset our cost of operations.
